Bio

Antoni Ferrando i Francés is a Professor of Catalan Philology at the University of Valencia. He has beeen the director of the Institut de Filologia Valenciana and of the Dept. of Catalan Philology at the University of Valencia. He is the founder and first editor of Caplletra. He is a member of the Institut Interuniversitari de Filologia Valenciana, the Istitut d´Estudis Catalans, the Valencian Academy of the Language and the Reial Acadèmia de Bones Lletres de Barcelona. He is the director of "Biblioteca Sanchis Guarner" and the "Biblioteca Lingüística Catalana" at the University of Valencia. He is a founding member of ISIC-IVITRA and within it he has participated in the research projects Prometeo/2009/044, ISIC/2012/022, PrometeoII/2014/018, and FFI2015-69694-P (MINECO/FEDER). He specializaes in history of the language, cultural history, and edition of Catalan classics. Among his many studies and editions we could mention Consciència idiomàtica i nacional dels valencians (1980), Els certàmens poètics valencians (1983), La formació històrica del valencià (1989), Sobre el marc històric de ‘Curial e Güelfa’ i la possible intencionalitat de la novel·la (1997), l’edició filológica de Curial e Güelfa (2007), El ‘Llibre dels feits’ del rei Jaume. Estudi i edició (in collaboration with Vicent J. Escartí) (2010), Les Regles d’esquivar vocables a revisió (2011) (in collaboration with Germà Colón), Precaucions metodològiques per a l'estudi lingüístic del 'Curial e Güelfa' (2012), Llengua i context cultural del ‘Tirant lo Blanc’ (2013), Història de la llengua catalana (in collaboration with Miquel Nicolás) (2011), and Estudis lingüístics i culturals sobre ‘Curial i Güelfa’ (2012).
