Bio

M. Teresa Cabré Castellví holds a Ph.D. in Romance Philology from the University of Barcelona and is Emeritus Professor at the Pompeu Fabra University. She is the President of the Philological Section of the Institut d’Estudis Catalans. She founded and directed the Centre de Terminologia Termcat (1985-1989) and created and directed the Institut Universitari de Lingüística Aplicada (IULA) (Pompeu Fabra University) (1994-2004). She is also the founder of the research group IULATERM (Lèxic, terminologia, discurs especialitzat i enginyeria lingüística) and the founder and director of the Observatori de Neologia (1988-). Her research focuses on Lexicology, Terminology, Specialized Discourse and Neology. Among her publications, we could mention La terminologia: La teoria, els mètodes, les aplicacions (1992), A l’entorn de la paraula (1994), and La Terminología: Representación y comunicación (1999). She is a founding member of ISIC-IVITRA. She has been awarded the Medalla Narcís Monturiol. She has received the Premi del Consell Social de la Universitat Pompeu Fabra a la Qualitat en la Docència (2009) and has an Honoris Causa Doctorate from the Universidad Ricardo Palma (Lima, 2006). She is also Honorary Professor of the Universidad Femenina del Sagrado Corazón (Lima, 2006) and Honorary Member of the Colegio de Traductores del Perú (Lima, 2006). She has been the recepient of the Eugen Wüster Award (2007) and has been inducted as Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (France, 2008). She is currently Pompeu Fabra Chair (Pompeu Fabra University). In 2015, she was awarded the prestigious Creu de Sant Jordi.
