Bio

Pep Valsalobre is a Professor of Modern Catalan Literature at the University of Girona and a member of the Institut de Llengua i Cultura Catalanes at that institution. His research focuses on the history of the Catalan language and has published over 10 monograhs and 60 articles. Among them, we could mention: Agustí Eura, O.S.A. (1684-1763), escritor y obispo. Un clásico de la poesía catalana de la Edad Moderna (2001); Agustí Eura, Obra poètica i altres textos (2003); Poesia catalana del barroc. Antologia (with Albert Rossich; 2006); Arminda de Joan Ramis (with Vicent de Melchor; 2006); Literatura i cultura catalanes (segles xvii-xviii) (with Albert Rossich; 2007); Literatura catalana de la edad moderna (with Albert Rossich, 2012); O he de morir o he d’amar. Antologia poètica de Francesc Fontanella (with Albert Rossich and Eulàlia Miralles; 2015); Obra poètica completa de Francesc Fontanella (with Marc Sogues, 2017); Un cançoner català del Renaixement a Roma. Les poesies de Joan Salom, astrònom valencià (with Albert Rossich and Vicent Martines, 2017). He has edited special volumes for several journals, such as La llengua catalana al segle xviii; El teatre català dels orígens al segle xviii; Francesc Fontanella: una obra, una vida, un temps; Fontanellana. Estudis sobre l’època i l’obra de Francesc Fontanella (1622-1683/85), etc. He is a member of ISIC-IVITRA and director of several research projects (Modern Catalan literature, www.nise.cat; Qüern, www.quern.cat). He has been an advisor for the Diccionari de la Literatura Catalana (Enciclopèdia Catalana, 2008).
